Pneumatically operated rock drills in both surface and underground mining operations are the main application for Mobil Almo 500 Series lubricants, which are high-end, high-performance products. Excellent chemical stability and good resistance to wear and corrosion are provided by the premium base stocks and additives used in the formulation of the Mobil Almo Series oils. They provide the ideal ratio of adhesiveness to emulsifiability, which allows them to absorb moisture transported by the airstream and lessen the detrimental effects of water on corrosion and wear. Gummy deposits that can result in slow valve action are not formed by them. The Mobil Almo 500 Series oils offer good preferred metal-wetting qualities that preserve continuous oil coatings even when water is present.These qualities, when paired with high EP characteristics, contribute to superior lubrication and extended equipment life.

The Mobil Almo 500 Series has low pour points and high viscosity indices to prevent icing stoppages and provide sufficient coatings on drill parts that may work at high temperatures. These properties also enable good lubrication at low temperatures caused by air expansion. The amounts of oil fog formation are very low.
